Normally tooth pains come from tooth decay or cavities, and sometimes the cavities are so big that the nerve is exposed which causes even more pain. Examples of these are Orajel and Anbesol which come in liquid and ointment form. Before you use any of the above mentioned products read the literature thoroughly and follow proper dosages because it is bad to over medicate.
If your tooth pain is coming from a damaged filling, there are products available that will allow you to temporarily repair the filling for tooth pain relief. You can use this if you’re in a pinch and cannot have it done by your dentist right away. You can purchase a temporary filling kit from the drug store. You can use this if you chip or lose a filling or you get a lose crown, but it will not last and will have to be replaced by a professional because it is only temporary.
Also available in the drug stores for tooth pain relief are oral pain swabs, a topical anaesthetic. You apply the medicine to your toothache using a cotton swab. It should be applied to the surrounding gum tissue. These over-the-counter pain medications will also work better if used in conjunction with home remedies but are both effective for tooth pain relief.
